Happy Saturday, book lovers! There’s nothing like a weekend dedicated to getting lost in a good book (or two), and this time, my TBR is serving up strong heroines, high stakes, and plenty of danger.
This weekend, I’m diving into:
📖 Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao

A sci-fi reimagining of China’s only female emperor, Iron Widow throws us into a world where giant mechas are powered by the life force of their pilots—usually at the expense of the women who are sacrificed in the process. Enter Zetian, who refuses to accept that fate. Instead of being another girl lost to the system, she turns the tables and takes control, becoming a force of destruction in her own right.
I’ve heard this book is fierce, rage-fueled, and absolutely unputdownable, and I cannot wait to see if Zetian’s journey lives up to the hype. Something tells me I’m in for a wild ride.
📖 The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

Vampires? Deadly competitions? A protagonist who has to fight for survival? Say no more. This book follows Oraya, a human girl raised among vampires who enters a brutal tournament, facing off against the very creatures that see her as prey. With alliances, betrayals, and a slow-burn romance woven into the mix, I have a feeling this is going to be exactly the kind of dark fantasy I love sinking into.
I’m already preparing myself for some late-night reading sessions because this sounds like the kind of story that refuses to let go.
What’s on Your TBR?
Are you tackling your own weekend reads, or are you still stuck in a post-book hangover? Let me know what’s on your TBR—or if you’ve read either of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts (no spoilers, please!).
Happy reading! 📚✨
