Review: KinnPorsche by Daemi

⭐️⭐️☆☆☆

When I picked up KinnPorsche by Daemi, I was hoping for a thrilling, emotional dive into a mafia romance — a genre that, when done well, can be equal parts intense and addicting. Unfortunately, this novel left me more frustrated than enthralled.

On the surface, KinnPorsche offers plenty of intrigue: bodyguards, forbidden romance, family politics, and danger lurking around every corner. There’s undeniable potential here. However, the execution often feels chaotic rather than compelling. The plot moves at a breakneck pace, sometimes sacrificing clarity and emotional depth in favor of shock value. It often felt like twists were thrown in just to keep the drama high, rather than to develop the story in a meaningful way.

The characters themselves are another mixed bag. Kinn and Porsche have sparks, but their relationship dynamic occasionally crosses lines that are uncomfortable rather than romantic, with certain scenes lacking the sensitivity and nuance they desperately needed. Side characters who could have added richness to the story are either underdeveloped or inconsistently written, making it hard to stay invested in anyone outside of the main pairing.

Stylistically, the writing (and its translation) is often rough, filled with abrupt scene shifts, awkward dialogue, and confusing character motivations. While some of this can be chalked up to cultural differences and translation challenges, it ultimately made the book harder to enjoy.

To its credit, KinnPorsche does succeed in crafting a world that feels dangerous and unpredictable, and there’s no denying the sheer energy Daemi brings to the story. If you’re looking for a wild, fast-paced read where you’re constantly guessing what absurd thing will happen next, there’s entertainment to be found here. But if you prefer coherent storytelling, well-rounded characters, and emotional payoff, you might walk away disappointed — as I did.

Devour or Nibble?
Nibble. This book may appeal to fans of the TV adaptation or readers seeking a high-drama, fast-paced narrative. However, due to its problematic relationship dynamics, underdeveloped characters, and translation issues, it might not satisfy those looking for a well-crafted, emotionally resonant story.
